First Fleet 1788
The ships of the first fleet prepare to set sail in 1788
The log would read this day captain Philip gave the order
To hoist the anchor and set the sails as they leave
The mother land of england on that day
The intended destination sydney cove so very far away
The rippling ocean blue shimmered in the sun
As they pulled out of the bay some might say it was madness
But they did it anyway as the eleven set their sails
And started out upon the way
Waves were pounding as they lost sight of the land
Some would never see home again
Oceans cool and calming but in the ambience of a storm
The swell would unleash a fury
that would give notice to them all
The howling winds would fill the sail
but it would rip them up as well
The long journey continues they travel day and night
Till the day arrived and sydney cove was in their sights
A land of new beginnings that would pave the way for history
As they arrive there on that day in a land know as Australia
All so many miles away gone but not forgotten as
The settlers of the first fleet made their way| Poetry 1 | Poetry 2 | Poetry 3 | Poetry 4 || Poetry 5 | Poetry 6 | Poetry 7 | Poetry 8 |
