Misery Breeds In Shallow Ground

Surmise as you will
There is life and some are ill
Fore scorned are those afflictions
Self satisfied in my addiction
What is real and what is fiction
Drawn upon this crucifixion

Masquerade of soulful sound
Misery breeds in shallow ground

For I’ve been hurt plenty a time
And there’s been times my heart felt empty
Shallowed tears through hallowed cries
To hear the whispers of their lies

Promiscuous promise mislaid in valour
For I am but the meekest teller

Moderator of mislaid pleasure
Wayward be those tainted feathers
Tether me with the finest things
Like golden trinkets and diamond rings

For I enjoy the finer things
But all are not fit like kings
For spiritual wealth I hold aplenty
Even when my heart feels empty
