On The Eve Of Eternal Slumber
For many a year I have looked upon the stars
Oh so close and yet so far
Beneath twilight the stillness beckons to the winds
As the waves crash against the sandy shore
As leaves fall among the trees
Clouds drift across the heavens
That look upon us like the keepers of the night
The stars they tell the fable of our pilot
While all along the meadow
The grass begins to weep
For as winter falls upon us
On the eve of eternal slumber
The clear thing that is knowing
Beneath the hand of reason we have a bond within this land
To crucify and sacrifice the spirit of our fellow men
Beneath the stars that glisten
Salvation would be ours, and ours alone
Our future would be certain
Our future would be bright beneath the wings of heaven
We would walk within the light
