Persuasion

Throughout this life
My dreams and aspirations
Have been dashed by those
Who fail to see the real me

Down trodden, beaten and broken
Is there any faith left within
This withered heart of mine

Eclipsed by time
My journey nears its final end
But to no avail
I hear the whispers of my soul

Lingering here within the depths
Of my own disappear
Looking back on life
Persuasion is hard to find
Eclipsed by all the shadows
That have burdened me in life
