Temptation Rests
Valley sage the war is waged
For here I am caught within this cage
To draw the line but what is the time
I've spent my life living by the dime
To my heart oh what a crime
If only I had been given a little more time
To endure the allure of my trappings
Within the cage my foot is tapping
Thoughts besieged by what has happened
Like waves that cross the ocean roar
To only rest upon the distant shores
To linger here beyond the line, dreaming of a better time
Where the heart would hear the tender words
Never would conflict prevail
Beneath the sound of falling hail
Cease and desist these troubling thoughts
But it's hard to resist what I've been taught
Temptation rests before our nations
Oblivious to our population
Selfish we have become, beneath the setting sun
