Upon That Summers Day

As they sat down for the feast
The minstrel played an accompanying peace
The maiden sang along with the words
To their favourite song

Some would hum, as others danced
As children played beneath the clouds
Upon that summers day

As they drank their tea
The children suckled on bits of ice
I said it once and I’ll say it twice
It wasn’t pleasant, even though it was kinda nice

As the food was laden on the table
Alice and Mable watched from yonder stable
Resting there without a care
With strands of straw nestled in their hair

As they laid there in anticipation
Upon that summers day
